Summer Kids/Youth Camps – Part Day And Full Day Camps

Advantage Tennis Coaching offers a variety of tennis camps.

Full day tennis/sports camps

Children 7 - 12 years of age

The full day camps take a maximum of 16 players so camps are designed for children and youth to receive maximum coaching and learning opportunities. The full day camps are not a “stack ‘em and pack ‘em” style camp where there are lots of kids and not sufficient supervision.

Advantage Tennis Coaching prides itself on offering camps that provide small groups of 1:6 coach to player ratios and an excellent array of activities throughout the day,

Each day we aim to get approx. 4 hours of tennis coaching each day with other days like soccer, handball/basketball which are played indoors on the cement slab of the arena. There is swimming 3 times a week where the kids take a mini bus to  the CP pool for a cool down at the end of the day.

The camps are very team oriented with the Davis Cup theme where kids are divided into teams at the beginning of the week and represent a country of their choice. They have to win points for their team by picking up the moist tennis balls, rallying points, winning points in match play and on court fun games. The kids love the Thursday morning “Artifact day” where they bring in artifacts that represent their country. Some kids in the past have done research on the Internet and produced posters that win them the points for their team.

KIds can start the camp no being able to rally a ball over the net and by the end of the week that player could win the most improved player or the best forehand award. All players learn through game -based drills and learn their 5 ball controls of speed, height, distance, direction and spin. Players who have never played the game before really enjoy this camp. Players who have played or are good players really enjoy this camp because the difficulty of drills are increased to meet or improved thier skills. As a tennis pro what I find most satifisying is "watching these kids learn how to use the ball controls in tactical situations then apply it and put together amazing rallies to win the point!"

All in all the full day is a great way to give your kids your kids a week of tennis, fitness and fun throughout the summer.

Performance player training is for players who have had previous training through the Tuesday evening or Saturday morning program in 2009.

It is a step up from the grass roots teen recreational program. Players need to be confident in rallying the ball and to understand the fundamentals of the 5 ball controls. Players are now improving their ability to use the 5 ball controls in different tactical situations in game based drills.

Knowledge of the basic strategies like how to keep the ball in play, how to move their opponent around and how to exploit their weakness is a prerequisite to teen experienced player training.

The experienced player knows how to serve to command the point using the ball controls such as direction or speed to put the opponent into a vulnerable position.

Can maintain a rally using both their forehand and backhand.
